I'm a disabled veteran and was treated very poorly and very snobbish by staff. I was a bit rude in my reply. I can't stand elitist snobs, especially whrn they had the luxury of living in a crazyvrich society and not fighting themselves. They banned me from using the facility yet didn't cancel my membership. They literally exploited a disabled veteran in poverty. Director said he tried to reach out to me to discussthe situation, yet never actually did and every time I went in he never had the time to meet. No email. No voivcemail. I went in today and was denied entry, and of course director wasnt available to meet. I went home and immediately called to cancel. During phonecall director acted like he made an attempt. I wasnt gonna waate my time listening to failure and bogus excuses. So I got billed for 2 months. Newton is disgusting how they treat disabled veterans. Absolute disgrace. If ya didn't want me there just cancel my membership. No need to keep billing me or wasting my time. I explained I'm in chronic pain but no one cares. They don't care that I'm hurt driving back n forth. It's sad. It's also incompetence. If you're poor and disabled this is a bad environment. Expect

Today, I had a very unpleasant experience at the Newton YMCAβ€”a place I have been visiting for two years. Two staff members at the pool refused to let me and my two sons use the right-hand laneβ€”the very lane we always swim in. The pool was completely empty; there was absolutely no crowd. They rudely told us, "You cannot swim on this side," and as a result, my children and I were forced to get out of the pool. I have had to cancel my YMCA membership, and I will never return because of these rude individuals. I urge other families to be vigilant regarding this kind of behavior.

The West Suburban YMCA is one of the cornerstones of the Newton community. Beautiful facility with state of the art equipment, brilliant staff, two fabulous pools. Every time I have a client moving to Newton, I recommend they join the West Suburban YMCA.
